About Us
The band was formed in 1998, (you may remember us from back then) and disbanded 2004, but I missed it so much, I reformed the band with a new lineup.
We got together in about March 2007and did our first gig in May at Southend. We had done only 6 practices as a full band when we did the gig. We didn't do too bad, all things considered! We're better now, though!
The band consists of:
Lead guitar.
Mick Fallan.
Absolutely brilliant guitarist. As you can hear from the c.d. he can copy a lot of different style to a 'T'! Especially Scotty Moore. He doesn't like to talk about himself very much, so I need to be a bit careful how much I say, but he used to be a session player, played with Gene vincent in '64, and Mud, to name just a few. Mainly played country when I met him, but he always wanted to get into rockabilly, but because of his age, no-one would give him the chance, except me, of course. As far as I'm concerned, age doesn't matter, so long as he can do the job. After all, I couldn't get his experience from a 25 year old! Besides, I'm catching up with him...........rapidly!!
Sax.
Mr. Blowhard.
(Stuart. Yes, I know, but when I asked him for a stage name, that's what he wanted!) I don't know much about Stuart at the moment. He's just joined us as a permanent member, and he does add a certain something to our sound.
Well, the original Urban Jamster plays great sax, having a particular love for people like Kenny G and Gary Barnacle, Dave Koz, Kirk Whalum, David Sanbourn, Snake Davis, Richard Elliot, Kim Waters, - but 'doesn't get jazz' - pull the other one Stew - he really plays a mean swing sax solo, and an even better rock and roll one!!
Sound engineer.
Steevo.
An old time friend of mine, has a good ear for what sounds good and has been invaluable to the band. He's very committed and reliable, and he loves doing it, which can only be a good this as it takes a lot of pressure off me. At the moment, he know almost nothing about rock 'n' roll or rockabilly, but he's learning all the time. A very accomplished bass player in his own right, being influenced by Mark King. (level 42) Hopefully he's going to get and learn standup bass soon, so we will then have a permanent stand-in.
Vocals.
Myself. Trevor Black.
Never sang live or on stage till I formed the band back in 1998 with a friend, but I've always loved singing. Isn't it strange, I can think of plenty to say about the others, but not myself!! Except that I love what I do and love to entertain. I do dabble a bit with guitar and just started playing around with drums, but I wouldn't class myself as a musician. As you might have guessed, a bit of a geek when it comes to computers, and I fix them in my spare time. Billy Fury is one of my favourites, which is why I'm trying to do as much of his material as I can, along with Elvis.
I just need to say that we all have a great sense of humour and get along like we've been together for ages. The phrase I like which says it all, is that we 'gel'!
Double Bass
Ian Finch
I'd like to welcome our latest member to the band, Ian. He played for us for the first time EVER, (on stage as well as with us) when we played at caterham, and he did extremely well, with a great response from the audience for him. At present, he is being mentored by Wayne Hopkins, from (among others), The house rockers, and also by Darren from Slim Slip and the Sliders. We hope that Ian will enjoy his time with us, and stay with us for a long time to come!
